At Cove, it’s never just about the profit. It’s about helping people and our communities by creating Space to Breathe. We help people protect themselves and their families from financial hardship when the unimaginable strikes. And it all started in 1990, when our founder, Bernie Geiss, decided he wanted to do insurance differently by creating an independent insurance brokerage agency that prioritizes transparency, accountability, and education. He wanted to refrain from using the high-pressure sales tactics taught in the insurance industry filled with complicated jargon, hard-to-understand products, and a culture of selling based on fear rather than helping people make important decisions they can feel good about. Thus, Cove Continuity Advisors was born.

Cove’s credo to doing insurance right has been developed by using a critical and objective approach to insurance advice and product selection that’s different from everyone else in the industry. It’s simple—we start by understanding our clients’ needs and wishes. Cove’s journey has grown from one person to a team of passionate people dedicated to Cove’s Right Way Path of professional excellence while aiming for something much higher in our work, which is using our business as a force for good. In addition to taking a unique approach to doing insurance, our business model is also emphasized on making a positive impact in this world by contributing to and participating in social and environmental causes. Cove is proud to be the first certified B-Corp insurance-related company in Canada in 2016, the first five registered Benefit Companies in BC in 2020, an Offsetters Carbon Neutral Company, a member of 1% For The Planet, and we have also started a fund called 1% For People to fund action to solve social challenges faced by people in our community.
